A graceful and soul-stirring Vianney Day celebration was held at Mangalapuzha Seminary, illuminating the missionary dimension of the priestly vocation.The event commenced with the inauguration of the academy by Very Rev. Fr. Pius Malekandathil, a distinguished historian and priest of the Eparchy of Kothamangalam. Currently serving as the Protosyncellus of the Eparchy, Fr. Malekandathil is widely recognized for his expertise in medieval Indian history and the heritage of the Saint Thomas Christians. His inaugural address underscored the historical depth and missionary zeal of the Church, recalling the legacy of priests who arrived as missionaries in our land. He particularly highlighted the missionary heritage of Mangalapuzha Seminary.In his presidential address, Rev. Fr. Jaimon Pallineerakkal emphasized the transformative power of confession in the lives of seminarians and priests. He stressed the importance of cultivating a deep love for confession in priestly life, following the example of St. John Mary Vianney in his pursuit of holiness. Br. Abin Chenaparambil delivered the message of the day, reminding all that priests are called to be bridge-makers, connecting heaven and earth, and fostering unity within a fragmented society.Adding a touch of serenity to the celebration, Br. Shon Edakattu performed a moving musical piece that uplifted hearts and calmed minds.The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Br. Arun Mandapathil, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to making the day meaningful. This year’s Vianney Day was not only a tribute to St. John Vianney, the patron of parish priests, but also a powerful reminder of the priesthood’s deeper purpose. It inspired all seminarians to embrace their priestly mission with renewed zeal and enthusiasm.
