Re-reading of Indian Independence | 15-08-2024
Mr. Cyriac Thomas, the former vice-chancellor of MG University, encouraged the Mangalapuzha Seminary community to re-read the implications of Indian independence while addressing the joint celebration of the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady and the 78th Independence Day on August 15th, Thursday. He recalled the nation’s historical experience of bondage and urged the audience to become conscious of this reality, question its persistence, and engage in self-reflection. He proposed a collective effort to dismantle the chains of bondage, both ancient and contemporary, that continue to afflict India. Mr. Rev. Fr. Ajith Ampazhathumkal presided over the meeting and Bro. Benedict Anugraha delivered the commemorative address, focusing on the spirit of the nation. Bro. Retin Vellakkakkudiyil stirred patriotic fervor with his heartfelt rendition of a nationalistic song.
