മംഗലപ്പുഴ സെമിനാരി ഐക്യത്തിന്റെയും സാർവത്രികതയുടെയും അടയാളം | 17-11-2022
സഭയിലും സമൂഹത്തിലും ഐക്യത്തിന്റെയും സാർവത്രികതയുടെയും അടയാളമായി പെരിയാറിന്റെ തീരത്ത്‌ കഴിഞ്ഞ തൊണ്ണൂറു വർഷക്കാലമായി ഉയർന്നു നിൽക്കുന്ന മംഗലപ്പുഴ സെമിനാരിയുടെ നവതി ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ സമാപിച്ചു.
സെമിനാരിയുടെ പൂർവ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയും സീറോ മലബാർ സഭയുടെ പിതാവും തലവനുമായ മേജർ ആർച്ച്ബിഷപ്പ് മാർ ജോർജ് ആലഞ്ചേരിയുടെ മുഖ്യ കാർമികത്വത്തിൽ വിശുദ്ധ കുർബാനയോടുകൂടെ ആഘോഷ പരിപാടികൾ ആരംഭിച്ചു. തലശ്ശേരി രൂപതാധ്യക്ഷൻ മാർ ജോസഫ് പാംപ്ലാനി വചനസന്ദേശം നൽകി. സെമിനാരിയുടെ ഉദ്‌ഘാടനവേളയിൽ ആലപിച്ച തൊണ്ണൂറ്റിഎട്ടാം സങ്കീർത്തനം 'കന്താത്തെ ഡോമിനോ' ആലപിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് പൊതുസമ്മേളനം തുടങ്ങി. സിനഡൽ കമ്മീഷൻ ചെയർമാൻ മാർ ജോർജ് മഠത്തിക്കണ്ടത്തിൽ അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച പരിപാടിയിൽ സെമിനാരി റെക്ടർ റെവ. ഡോ. സെബാസ്റ്റ്യൻ പാലമൂട്ടിൽ നാളിതു വരെ സെമിനാരിക്ക് വേണ്ടി ത്യാഗം ചെയ്ത എല്ലാവരെയും നന്ദിയോടെ സ്മരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് സദസ്സിനു സ്വാഗതം ആശംസിച്ചു. കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭയ്ക്ക് മംഗലപ്പുഴ സെമിനാരി നൽകിയ അതുല്യമായ സംഭാവനകളെ സ്മരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് അഭിവന്ദ്യ കർദിനാൾ ആലഞ്ചേരി പൊതുസമ്മേളനം ഉദഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. ജീവിതത്തിലുണ്ടാകേണ്ട സമർപ്പണ മനോഭാവം, നീതിനിഷ്ഠ, ജീവിതലാളിത്യം, വിശുദ്ധ ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിലും സഭാപ്രബോധനങ്ങളിലും ഉള്ള അറിവ്, മെത്രാന്മാരോടുള്ള വിധേയത്വം എന്നിവയിൽ അടിസ്ഥാനമിട്ട വൈദികപരിശീലനത്തിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യത്തെപ്പറ്റി അഭിവന്ദ്യ കർദിനാൾ ഓർമിപ്പിച്ചു. 25 വർഷങ്ങൾക്കുമുൻപ് സെമിനാരിയെ റീത്തുകളുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ വിഭജിച്ചത് വളർച്ചയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടിയാണെന്നും അന്യോന്യം ഊന്നുവടികളായ് വർത്തിക്കുവാൻ ഈ വിഭജനം സഹായിക്കണമെന്നും അനുഗ്രഹ പ്രഭാഷണത്തിലൂടെ കൊച്ചി രൂപതാധ്യക്ഷനും കെ. ആർ. എൽ. സി. ബി. സി. പ്രസിഡണ്ടുമായ മാർ ജോസഫ് കരിയിൽ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു. കൃപയുടെ വിതരണത്തിനുതകുന്ന വിധത്തിൽ കാലത്തിനനുസൃതമായ വൈദികപരിശീലനം നടത്തണമെന്ന് കോതമംഗലം രൂപതാധ്യക്ഷനും സെമിനാരി സിനഡൽ കമ്മീഷൻ ചെയർമാനുമായ മാർ ജോർജ് മഠത്തിക്കണ്ടത്തിൽ അധ്യക്ഷപ്രസംഗത്തിൽ അനുസ്മരിച്ചു. സി. ബി. സി. ഐ. പ്രസിഡന്റായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട അഭിവന്ദ്യ മാർ ആൻഡ്രൂസ് താഴത്ത്‌ ആശംസയർപ്പിച്ചു സംസാരിച്ചു. നവതിയോടനുബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള പുസ്തക പരമ്പര ഇടുക്കി രൂപതാധ്യക്ഷനും സെമിനാരി സിനഡൽ കമ്മീഷൻ അംഗവുമായ മാർ ജോൺ നെല്ലിക്കുന്നേൽ നിർവഹിച്ചു. ആദ്യ പുസ്തകം അഭിവന്ദ്യ കർദിനാൾ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി. ചാലക്കുടി എം പി ശ്രീ ബെന്നി ബെഹനാൻ പ്രതിസന്ധികളെ നേരിടാനുള്ള ശക്തി മെത്രാന്മാർക്കും വൈദികർക്കും ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെ എന്നറിയിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് മുഖ്യപ്രഭാഷണം നിർവഹിച്ചു. നവതിയോടനുബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള വൈദീക അനുയാത്ര ശുശ്രുഷയ്ക്ക് സെമിനാരി കമ്മീഷൻ അംഗം മാർ ടോണി നീലങ്കാവിൽ ആരംഭം കുറിച്ചു. തുടർന്ന് കാർമെൽഗിരി സെമിനാരി റെക്ടർ റെവ. ഡോ. ചാക്കോ പുത്തെൻപുരക്കൽ, ആലുവ പൊന്തിഫിക്കൽ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് പ്രസിഡന്റ് റെവ. ഡോ. സുജൻ അമൃതം,കർമ്മലീത്ത സഭ മഞ്ഞുമ്മൽ പ്രോവിൻഷ്യൽ സുപ്പീരിയർ റെവ. ഡോ. തോമസ് മരോട്ടിക്കാപറമ്പിൽ, എറണാകുളം അങ്കമാലി അതിരൂപതയുടെ വികാരി ജനറാൾ റെവ. ഡോ. വര്ഗീസ് പൊട്ടക്കൽ, അൽമായ ആധ്യാത്മിക കൂട്ടായ്മയുടെ പ്രതിനിധി ശ്രീ ജോസ് പോൾ, പൂർവ വിദ്യാർഥിസംഘത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിനിധിയും ചങ്ങനാശ്ശേരി രൂപത വികാരി ജനറാളുമായ റെവ. ഡോ. വര്ഗീസ് തനമാവുങ്കൽ എന്നിവർ ആശംസകളറിയിച്ചു സംസാരിച്ചു. നവതി കമ്മിറ്റിയുടെ ജനറൽ കൺവീനറായ റെവ. ഡോ. ജോൺപോൾ പറപ്പള്ളിയത്ത് ഏവർക്കും നന്ദിയർപ്പിച്ചു സംസാരിച്ചു. നവതിയാഘോഷ സമാപനത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ചു 20 ആം തിയതി വരെ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന കലാ പ്രദർശനം സെമിനാരി റെക്ടർ ഉദഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. വ്യത്യസ്ത റീത്തുകളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള നൂറുകണക്കിന് മെത്രാന്മാരും വൈദികരും ഉൾപ്പെടെ ആയിരത്തോളം പേർ പങ്കെടുത്തു.

MANGALAPUZHA SEMINARY: A Significant contributor to the Kerala Catholic Church

Mangalapuzha seminary since its inception in 1933 on the banks of river Periyar has done a marvelous service to the development of the Kerala Catholic Church, stated Cardinal Mar George Alencherry while inaugurating the concluding ceremony of the Navathi celebrations of the seminary on 17th November 2022. The seminary has trained more than 5000 catholic priests and initiated various projects for social and cultural upliftment. Being linked to the three Rites of the Catholic Church: Latin, Syro Malabar, and Syro Malanakara, it remains a symbol of unity and universality. With a current number of more than 400 seminarians, it is one of the largest seminaries in Asia. His Beatitude Cardinal Alencherry also recalled the importance of priestly training based on dedication, righteousness, simplicity of life, knowledge of the Holy Scriptures and Ecclesiastical teachings, and obedience to bishops.
The celebrations commenced with the Solemn Holy Eucharistic celebration by the Cardinal and the homily by the Archbishop of Tellichery Mar Joseph Pamplany. The general assembly of the Navathi celebrations began with the singing of Psalm 98 ‘Cantate Domino', which was sung at the inauguration of the seminary, ninety years ago. The seminary rector, Rev. Dr. Sebastian Palamoottil welcomed the audience by gratefully remembering all those who have sacrificed for the seminary to date. The Prelate of Kochi Diocese and the President K. R. L. C. B. C. Mar Joseph Kariyil in his Benedictory address stated that, 25 years ago, the division of the seminary based on rites was for growth and this division should help each other to serve as crutches in their journey. Mar George Madathikandathil, the bishop of the Eparchy of Kothamangalam and the Chairman of the Seminary Synodal Commission, recalled in his presiding address that priestly training should be done in such a way that the seminarians become gracious distributors of grace. The newly elected President of C. B. C. I. Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath, felicitated the meeting. Mar John Nellikunnel, the Bishop of Idukki Diocese and a member of the Seminary Synodal Commission released the first book of the series published in connection with the Navathi and handed over the first copy to the Cardinal.
Chalakudy MP Mr. Benny Behanan delivered the keynote address. Seminary Commission member Mar Tony Neelankavil inaugurated the Priests’ Accompaniment Mission. Dr Chacko Puthenpurackal, Rector of Carmelgiri Seminary, Dr Sujan Amurutham, president of Pontifical Institute Alwaye, Dr Thomas Marottikaparambil OCD, Provincial of Manjummel Province, Dr Varghese Pottackal, Proto Syncellus of the Arch eparchy of Ernakulam-Angamaly, Dr Jose Paul, Representative of Laymen’s Spiritual Retreat, Dr Varghese Thanamavumkal, Representative of Alumni and Syncellus of the Arch eparchy of Changanacherry addressed the gathering. The General Convener of the Navathi Committee, Dr. John Paul Parapalliyath, thanked everyone.
An Art Exhibition was organized by the Artist Forum of the seminary under the leadership of Rev. Fr. John Paul Parappaliyath in connection with the Navathi celebration. About a thousand people, including bishops and priests from different dioceses, attended the celebrations.
