Jubilee of His Beatitude Mar George Cardinal Alencherry Celebrated | 18-12-2021
The Sacerdotal Golden Jubilee and the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of His Beatitude Mar George Cardinal Alencherry, the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church was celebrated on 18th December 2021 at Mangalapuzha Seminary, his alma mater. His Beatitude celebrated the Holy Qurbana in the seminary chapel together with all the staff and brothers. Following the celebration, His Beatitude blessed the new church bell sponsored by Rev. Fr. Thomas Periappuram, who is also celebrating his Sacerdotal Golden Jubilee. Both jubilarians were felicitated by the seminary community in the gathering held at the common refectory. While Very Rev. Fr. Rector, Sebastian Palamoottil welcomed the Major Archbishop, Rev. Dr. Michael Vattappalam and Rev. Brother Jilbet Konnayil representing the community extended jubilee greetings. In his reply, His Beatitude shared his memories as a former student of the seminary and emphasized the need for communion, mission and preaching of the word of God in the Church.
